We anticipate that by 2024, AI will be even more deeply integrated into everyday project work, and ways will be found to utilize it effectively.
Despite promising prospects, however, there are still numerous hurdles that must be overcome in the new year. Foremost among these are data privacy concerns, as the increased use of data requires strict security measures to protect the privacy of all parties involved. Companies must therefore ensure that AI systems comply with applicable data protection guidelines in order to maintain the trust of customers and stakeholders.

As early as the beginning of 2023, we were already discussing how new work models and remote work would become established, and how project management would need to find new ways to adapt to them. Da inzwischen nicht mehr nur grosse Unternehmen, sondern verstärkt auch kleine und mittlere Unternehmen Angriffen von Cyberkriminellen ausgesetzt sind, ist spätestens im Jahr 2024 ein wirkungsvolles Sicherheitsmanagement unerlässlich.

4. Soft Skills and Health

At the same time, however, digitalization makes it clear that the success of projects depends not only on advanced technology, but also on the people who use that technology. As early as 2023, we predicted that soft skills such as communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence would become more important than technical expertise in the future. Now, however, we’d like to add that attention to mental health in the workplace will also become increasingly important. Especially amid tight deadlines and high project pressure, many companies now recognize that employee well-being affects a project’s outcomes and chances of success, and they are making a point of promoting a good work-life balance.

5. Data-Driven Decisions

Project management, too, is confronted with an exponentially growing volume of data and information. This data must be leveraged to make project work even more successful. Data-driven project management makes it possible to collect and analyze all data, thereby identifying trends, challenges, or opportunities early on. This allows for optimal decision-making, more efficient use of resources, and real-time monitoring of project progress. As a result, by 2024, an increasing number of companies will be using project management software with integrated business intelligence features or standalone business intelligence software to gain valuable insights from the collected data.
