In fact, a little stress is part and parcel of having responsibility. Decisions carry weight, projects are complex and expectations are high. This is undisputed and part of the job description as a manager. It becomes problematic when tension becomes a permanent state. If you are constantly working beyond your own limits, you not only lose energy, but also perspective, patience and clarity. Chronic stress reduces the quality of decision-making, encourages mistakes and increases the risk of burnout. What starts at an individual level quickly affects teams and entire organizations. A topic that doesn't have an easy time of it, especially in a business context, because it quickly sounds esoteric. However, mindfulness is not about incense sticks or hours of meditation, but about something very practical, namely the conscious awareness of one's own state and boundaries. Mindful managers recognize earlier when they are overloaded. They sense when decisions are made out of exhaustion rather than clarity. And they can consciously take countermeasures by taking breaks, delegating tasks or simply going home on time and then not working any more. First the team, then the customers and the projects. Their own needs are often fulfilled last. In the short term, this seems committed and is often rewarded and expected. In the long term, however, it is risky. Self-care does not mean relinquishing responsibility for your own team, customers or projects. It means taking this responsibility realistically. Sleep, exercise, social contacts and mental breaks are then not private luxury goods, but economically relevant resources. Thanks to smartphones and the like, decisions can be made at any time, information can be shared immediately and problems can be addressed straight away. What sounds practical has a downside: the line between work and relaxation is becoming blurred.<br \/>Many managers are virtually never offline. Even the supposed end of the working day becomes an extended reaction time. The problem here is not only the lack of rest, but also the signal to the organization: \"Always being available is the standard.\" However, this is not healthy for either the team or the manager. Rather, this permanent availability creates unwanted dependencies. So that teams learn, for example, to escalate upwards whenever there is uncertainty instead of taking responsibility themselves.       <\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_6  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Silence_promotes_clarity\"><\/span>Silence promotes clarity<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>What is often missing in all the hustle and bustle is the necessary distance to be able to think clearly again. Switching off is particularly difficult in the hectic pre-Christmas period. Deadlines are looming, expectations are rising and the year needs to be brought to a \"clean finish\". But it is precisely in this phase that deliberate silence can be particularly effective because it creates space for reflection. What went well? What was stressful? Which decisions had an impact and which did not? Without this inner distance, patterns repeat themselves. Leadership then becomes reactive instead of conscious. A few days of real distance can therefore often bring more clarity than weeks of uninterrupted activity. If you don't allow breaks yourself, you will hardly be able to credibly call for a healthy work-life balance. Those who only take vacation \"theoretically\" send clear signals to the team. Conversely, it has a huge impact when management visibly takes responsibility for itself. Clear absence times, transparent handovers and genuine trust in the team demonstrate a conscious decision for sustainable leadership.
